Şekib Avdagiç

Mr. Avdagiç was born in 1959, in Zenica (Bosnia-Herzegovina). His primary school education commenced in Germany-Köln and continued in İstanbul.  Mr. Avdagiç completed primary and secondary school education in İstanbul. In 1982, Mr. Avdagiç graduated from the İstanbul Technical University as a Mechanical Engineer. In 1988, he graduated from the Business Administration Specialization Program of the İstanbul University with a degree. Mr. Avdagiç still holds the position of Chairman of the Executive Board at a firm active in the automotive industry. He took the position of founding delegation member which established the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD) and served as the association’s Vice President until 2000. Mr. Avdagiç acted as an Assembly Member of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce from 1995 to 1999. Between the years 2005-2009 he was a Member of the Executive Board. Through the years 2008-2009 Mr. Avdagiç was a member of the Executive Council of the 2010-European Capital of Culture Agency. He became the agency’s Executive Council President in 2009 and remained so until the project was completed in June 2011 when his office term ended. He served as the Vice President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce from March 2009 until 2013. Since May 2013, Mr. Avdagiç has been the Chairman of the Assembly at ICOC. Mr. Avdagiç is also a Member of the Board of Trustees at The Istanbul Commerce University, The International University of Sarajevo, The Prof. Dr. FuatSezgin Research Foundation for the History of Science in Islam, aswell as The Istanbul Technical University Development Foundation.  Furthermore, he is the President of The Turkish Composite Manufacturing Association and an Executive Board Member at The Association of Automotive Parts & Components Manufacturers (TAYSAD). Mr. Avdagiç has an understanding of several languages including English and Bosnian. He is married and has two children.
