Onur AKPULAT

In his 12-year career, Akpulat has focused on climate change, sustainable development, circular economy, waste management, resource efficiency, renewable energy, and compliance with the EU Environment and Climate Change Acquis.He took part in over 20 technical support and capacity development projects funded by the European Commission, governments, private sector and international institutions as manager and technical specialist.  He built expertise on EU and national climate change and waste management policies, and Regulator and Industry Impact Analysis. He collaborated closely with stakeholders such as public institutions, municipalities, the private sector, nongovernmental organizations, and international institutions. He was a member of the administrative and technical teams of leading REC programs such as the EU Environmental Awards, Climate Platform and Corporate Sustainability Certificate Program. He was a trainer, mentor or moderator in over 500 capacity building activities. He authored or co-authored technical reports, analyses, papers and other publications appearing in refereed journals, industry publications and conferences. Akpulat has undergraduate and graduate degrees from the METU Environmental Engineering Department in 2006 and 2009, respectively. His graduate studies focused on energy from waste, climate change, and air pollution control. He was a researcher in a 2-year TÜBİTAK project on obtaining energy from waste.
