Baran BOZOĞLU

President of Chamber of the Environmental Engineers

Born in 1983, Bozoğlu completed Middle East Technical University's (METU) Environmental Engineering undergraduate program in 2005 and started a master's program in the Urban Policy Planning and Local Administrations Department of METU.   Bozoğlu completed the master's program in 2008 and began a PhD program in the Ankara University Social Environmental Sciences Department, completing this degree in 2018 with a dissertation on climate change.  Bozoğlu joined the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2007 as an Assistant Specialist. Bozoğlu became a Specialist in 2009 and performed environmental inspections in many provinces as a Chief Environmental Inspector in the Measurement and Inspection Directorate. Bozoğlu specialized on the EU Environmental Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), and also delivered environmental legislation and audit within the Ministry.  He took part in the design, legislation and implementation processes of "integrated environmental audits" in Turkey. He was responsible for coordination with IMPEL, the network of environmental auditors of regulatory bodies in EU member states and candidates, the environmental compliance and enforcement network for EU candidates (ECENA), and the regional environmental network for EU candidates (RENA), and represented Turkey in many international meetings. In 2011, he joined the Turkish Accreditation Institute (TÜRKAK) as a specialist. He is currently a Specialist and Chief Inspector in the Laboratory Accreditation Division. Bozoğlu was a member of the Chamber of Environmental Engineers Ankara Branch Board of Directors from 2006 to 2010, and has been the President of the Chamber of Environmental Engineers since 2011. He is also the president of the Climate Change Policy and Research Society. He served as a Board of Directors Member for the 41st term of the Union of Chambers of Engineers and Architects of Turkey from 2010 to 2012.
