Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Gürkaynak

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Gürkaynak graduated from Istanbul University Department of Chemical Engineering in 1971. He worked as expert surveyor and teaching assistant in Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry of Columbia University to which he went to officiate as visiting scientist between the years of 1972 – 1982. He became Assistant Professor in 1982, Associate Professor in 1984 and Professor in 1989. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Gürkaynak was Board Member and Vice President of PETKİM Holding A.Ş between the years of 2002 – 2008, and Member and Vice President of TUBİTAK, TEYDEB Committee of Chemistry, Materials and Metallurgy between the years of 2006 – 2012. Along with his perpetual duty of Head of Department of Chemistry between the years of 1990 – 2000, he also worked as Director of Istanbul University Institute of Science between the years of 1997 – 2004 and was appointed to this duty again in 2012. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Gürkaynak has more than 35 articles published in journals within the scope of National and International SCI. His studies were referred more than 300 times. He has over 25 master degree and doctorate consultancies. He is still doing scientific studies with 5 doctoral students and 6 postgraduate students in the fields of chemical reaction engineering, advanced material technologies and fuel cell technologies.
