Şekib Avdagiç

He was born in Zenica (Bosnia-Herzegovina). He carried on his primary education, which he had started in Köln-Germany previously, in İstanbul and also completed the secondary education there. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University as Mechanical Engineer. He is a high honour graduate of Business Management Specialization Program of Faculty of Business Management at Istanbul University in 1988. He has been continuing to his carrier as the Chairman at a company which is active in Automotive Industry. In 1990, he took charge in founding committee of MÜSIAD (Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association) and served there as vice president until the year 2000. He was a member of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce as a council member between 1995 and 1999. He was also a member of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Managing Board. Between 2008 and 2009, he was a member of Istanbul 2010 European Capıtal of Culture Agency executive board. In 2009, he became the president of the board and with the completion of the project, his duty came to an end in June of 2011. On March, between 2009 and 2013, he worked as Vice Chairman of the Board of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce’s. He has been serving as Chairman of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce since May 2013. He is a member of Istanbul Commerce University, International Sarajevo University, Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Research Foundation for the History of Science in Islam and Istanbul Technical University Development Foundation Board of Overseers. In addition to all these, he is the president of Turkish Composites Manufacturers Association and a member of TAYSAD (Association of Automotive Parts and Components Manufacturers) Board of Management. Şekib Avdagiç, who knows both English and Bosnian, is married and the father of two children.
