Hasan Salih Acar

Secretary General, FASD

Acar graduated from the Chemistry Department of the Middle East Technical University in 1979 and completed a graduate degree in food packaging at the Ankara University Department of Agriculture in 1988.

He worked as a Chemist, Chief Technician and acting Director in the Turkish Standards Institute Directorate of the Center for Packaging between 1979 and 1995. During this period, he received 6 months of training on packaging in the United States, UK, Germany, and Finland. He was the Secretary General of the Packaging Industrialists Association from 1995 to 2000. He was a lecturer of "Food Packaging" in the Food Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University in the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 academic years, where he presented papers and delivered training on packaging and ISO 9000. Acar was the Quality Assurance Manager of ASAŞ Ambalaj Baskı Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. between 2001 and 2010. 

He was a Neville Clark Chief Inspector in the Turkish Standards Institute in 1991. Acar is the author of numerous articles on packaging, a former Director of the TSI Packaging and Stationery Permanent Committee, a contributor to several Turkish Standard documents, and was a member of the TSI Packaging Contest Jury Panel. He was the TC 122 Packaging Committee Director in the International Standards Organisation (ISO), and currently serves as the Director of the Specialist Commission of Food Contact Substances and Materials of the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture, and a member of the HAZTEK Readymade Packaging Commission of the Turkish Minsistry of Industry and Trade. He is an auditor for TÜRKAK System Management and Laboratory Accreditation.

Acar is also the Secretary General of the Flexible Packaging Industrialists Association, an advisor to the TOBB Turkish Packaging Assembly, a member of the TOPP Turkish Plastics, Composite and Rubber Assembly, Director of the TSI Packaging Technical Committee, and Director of the TSI Packaging Foil Committee.
